It all started one cool winters day in February, when I had enough of the cold weather. I had only a few days off work available at the time. I was looking for a good beach trip & warm weather.
I was originally looking over a trip to Daytona Beach, Florida for the weekend. I was scouring multiple travel booking sites. Including one (Bookit.com) which went out of business during the Covid-19 shutdown in March of 2020, & left a lot of very unhappy customers stranded without a refund.
During my search I came across a last minute deal on the travel booking site Expedia. The deal was for a $580, four day stay, with round trip flight tickets, transportation, a Beachfront King Junior Suite, All-Inclusive, & V.I.P. Package.
The only catch was, I had to leave in less then 3 days of finding the deal for Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Did I book with such a tight timeline for an international getaway, on such short notice?

BAGS PACKED & WHEELS UP
Let me tell you about my solo trip to Punta Cana 🤣. I was originally trying to create a trip for one of my cousins, & myself to take together. Unfortunately due to circumstances out of their control at the time, they weren’t able to join me.
This trip had effectively become a Solo trip. I wasn’t going to let that stop me. I was still eagerly anticipating this Island getaway. Looking ahead at the weather I saw temperatures in the 80’s & sunny. Part of the vacation deal was I needed to fly American Airlines, & depart from Orlando FL (MCO) International Airport.
It was time for a 9 & 1/2 hour solo road trip around 670 miles to the airport. Costing me about $140 in gas round trip (V8 don’t ask 🤦🏽♂️). After getting to Orlando, & boarding my flight. I could finally kick back & start relaxing.

PUNTA CANA!!!
Leaving home in the U.S. with winter temperatures in the 20’s. I had wrapped up well to board the plane. After landing in the Dominican Republic with summertime temperatures in the 80’s. I quickly had to start shedding layers of clothes in the airport as I waited my turn to get through Customs.
After clearing customs & baggage claims. I went to the front of the airport where my driver was waiting. I had arranged in advance to have COMING2 get me around the island. Great company with nice drivers, who are helpful, loading & unloading your bags for you.
THE CHECK-IN

The driver drove me right up to the entrance of the Be Live Resort in Punta Cana. Being extremely knowledgeable about exactly which section of the Resort I needed to be in. Which was very helpful, because the Resort is divided into sections by package level purchased.
The resort is located right on the beautiful, & breath taking Bávaro Beach. They have two separate check in areas at the resort. An outdoor check-in area underneath a pavilion, & a V.I.P. check-in area inside with A/C.
As it was an extremely long line to check in at the outdoor area. I was extremely happy to have the V.I.P. check-in. A resort attendant, quickly welcomes you. They offer you sandwiches, salads & drinks whiles you wait to be checked in.
They have a bellhop come & gather your luggage, & take it to your room for you. It’s already waiting in your room when you arrive. The bellhop who escorted me to my room, gave me a quick run down of the Resort.
THE V.I.P. WELCOME

After entering the room, you’re greeted with your first view of the lengths the Resort went to, in order to make your stay feel special.

There are neatly folded heart shaped towels, bath robes, & house slippers laid out at the foot of the bed for your convenience.

After giving you just enough time to admire the view, & get your things settled to a place for your stay. There is a knock on the door, & the resorts room service bring you a welcome fruit & drink platter.

The fruit plate was decorated with fresh, scooped & sliced Cantaloupe, Pineapple, Watermelon, & Red Grapes

A ROOM TOUR
The room itself also contained a mini fridge which the Resort staff restocked daily, & kept replenished.

The Bathroom was split into 3 separate sections. With the Shower, Sink, & Toilet area each having there own space.
The V.I.P. Room even came with a specialty Pillow Turn down service. This way you could choose what type of pillow you wanted to sleep on each night of your stay.

THE GROUNDS TOUR
The resort had a main pool, with a bar which stayed packed. The resort had a DJ for the pool area, & they kept music playing most of the day, which included fun poolside games, making it easy to meet people during your solo stay.
There was a fountain to walk pass, on your way to the main pool, where live flamingo’s resided.

If you wanted a quieter area to kick back & relax. The V.I.P package is the best way to go. You could chill solo in the separate V.I.P. Pool area. You could have it mostly alone, or shared with just a couple, or two most of the day.

With the V.I.P. package, you also gained access to the exclusive beach bed area. Here the staff would cater to you bringing drinks & snacks to your beachside bed as you relax.

Also included with the V.I.P. package was exclusive access to the V.I.P. Lounge which had a bar, free drinks, food & snacks, A/C, free WiFi Access, & comfortable places to sit & relax.

PLAYTIME
The Be Live Resort included many activities that you could schedule for each day at no additional cost. Those activities included sailing, table tennis, aerobics groups, Beach Volleyball, gym, & kayaking.

SUNRISE ON THE BEACH
The Resort also included a Casino, & nightclub. Which kept most of the guests up late each night. Which made it all the better if you’re a morning person.
You could get up early to enjoy a beautiful sunrise on Bávaro Beach each morning. You would practically have the entire beach alone as you enjoyed a solo cup of coffee whiles everyone else slept in.
ROOM SERVICE
Another one of the perks of the V.I.P. package was 24 hour room service (I tested it out at 3a.m one morning just to check & see 🤣). There’s a breakfast, lunch, & dinner menu available in the room to order from at no additional cost.

If you don’t want to dine in room, they have a buffet available for breakfast lunch, & dinner. The Resort also has a snack bar, & several À-La-Carte restaurants to chose from.
FAREWELL PUNTA CANA

After enjoying the beautiful sunrises, sunsets, & warm beach weather in the middle of Winter. It was hard to say goodbye to Punta Cana.
I enjoyed my solo stay, & the people I met along the way. The food was great, the scenery was beautiful, & the Resort service was impeccable.
I used the same Transportation service on my return trip back to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). Just as they were helpful on arrival, the destination service COMING2 was dependable, & right on schedule. Getting me safely back to the airport for my departure.
